Job Description
Title: Marketing Communications Manager Summary: The Marketing Communications Manager is responsible for designing, producing, and managing the production of a broad array of print and non-print communication/marketing materials for all areas of the organization. Candidate will provide creative design expertise and project management for a variety of programs and initiatives. This position will assist in the implementation of communications and marketing program guidelines and plans, quality control and consistency of communications programs, media activities and special events. Additional duties include coordination of meetings and scheduling associated with vendors and other NFWF staff. The Marketing Communications Manager works with a diverse group of important external contacts and visitors, as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as primary day-to-day contact with NFWF’s creative agency of record (AOR) on all account, project, and billing related matters. Design and produce marketing collateral and corporate communications tools, such as logos, brochures, direct mail, invitations, signage, web graphics, advertising, presentations, etc. Manage outside vendors, such as printers, and the production of work – obtain price quotes, manage production process, oversee quality of work, attend on-site press checks, ensure delivery of final product on time and within budget. Serve as traffic manager for all design and other related creative and communications projects by interacting with various other department contacts and staying on top of key deadlines. Act as primary brand manager in implementing NFWF Brand Guidelines by helping other NFWF staff, partners, or grantees acquire or follow the established guidelines or creative elements association with the guidelines. Provide strong copywriting and editing skills; excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and with databases; good phone presence; detailed organization and conscientious planning. Provide ongoing PowerPoint development assistance and marketing collateral design associated with key marketing and communications pitches and planning as it relates to current and potential partners. Develop and manage timelines, as well as data and information gathering and facilitation for annual reports, brochures, marketing materials, and other similar projects and publications. Participate in the development and implementation of corporate and federal marketing and communications programs and campaigns in conjunction with development, government relations, and program team members, partnership office directors, and senior staff. Order, properly store, and distribute NFWF merchandise such as t-shirts, pens, or other give-away/gift items. Maintain and update marketing collateral, as needed. Develop and maintain proper filing systems for all communications and marketing projects and materials. Act as liaison with other departments and outside parties, including high level parties such as members of NFWF’s Board, Executive Director and other department heads. Qualifications: Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy. Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, fine arts, graphic design, or advertising. Advanced degree in said disciplines a plus. Experience (3+years) in design and print production, communications, marketing, public relations, graphic design, or advertising. Experience working within a creative agency, non-profit organization, or corporate communications team is a plus. Strong written and oral communications skills. Self-motivated. Passion for advertising and design. Must possess superb execution skills, as well as confidence to manage, present and complete print, collateral, web, and broadcast assignments in a timely manner. Ability to thrive in fast-paced work environment. Ability to understand, interpret and write about scientific information for the general public. Ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work on deadline. Very strong attention to detail and ability to edit and proofread. Creative outlook with a problem-solving attitude. Excellent time management, organizational, and follow-through skills. Able to respond quickly and accurately to requests for information. Flexibility in a rapidly changing environment. Strong analytical skills. Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software. Proficiency in graphic design programs such as Quark and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and understanding of content management systems for website management. Willingness to travel. Positive attitude and ability to work in a team. Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Location: Washington, DC
